Observation:
While we are all exposed to an infinite assortment of media and culture throughout our daily lives- be it print, television, billboards, arts, signage, or music- the realm in which this cultural content is created, that of the cultural worker/artist, is somewhat disconnected and unbeknownst to the general public.
Aim:
Using media and space as vehicles of communication, the CMT aims to infuse this artistic culture into people’s daily lives and encourage the younger generation to become the new driving force in the creative industry. With their knack for exploring new ideas through innovative media and their capacity to buy (they are smart as consumers as they are creators), they represent a catalyst of change. CMT embraces this spirit and presents spaces that allow new ideas to unfold and be seen, heard, experienced and transformed.
It is through this interaction of learning and sharing of ideas between artists/cultural workers, that the public can become more engaged in the cultural landscape in which they live.
Recommendation:
The CMT community will become a dynamic force within the overall urban landscape, imbuing it with a constant creative pulse. Such a community encourages the collaboration with various media entities, to further integrate culture within the economy. A joint venture, for example, with the TVBS network to develop a CMT would broaden the network’s scope, and offering a mix of retail, entertainment, and creative studio space would provide the public more opportunities to engage in this landscape.
Key Issues:
The CMT is essentially an exchange platform. Its mix-use program spaces offer a balance between cultural and commercial activities. The integration of living, working, and learning space acts as a foundation on which new interactions are shared and innovative ideas are explored.
